When Hatred Becomes the Order of the Day, Failure is Inevitable: The Case of Arochukwu Equity Forum (AEF)
Hatred is a potent and destructive emotion that has become an unfortunate staple in the hearts of misguided individuals. When your heart is filled with hatred, it can have far-reaching and devastating consequences, ultimately leading to failure in various aspects of life, because it blinds one to the good done the target person.
One of the most significant effects of hatred is its ability to polarize communities. When hatred becomes widespread, people begin to take sides, and divisions become entrenched. This polarization can lead to mistrust, hostility, and even violence, making it challenging to build and maintain relationships between different groups. In the case of Arochukwu Constituency, where there are different clans, hatred can manifest in discriminatory practices, hate crimes, and even genocide.
Hatred also has a profound impact on the economic well-being of communities. When communities are plagued hatred, they become less attractive to other surrounding communities. Claiming that a particular clan in Arochukwu Local Government has produced more leaders than others is not only absurd but also inciting. Elections in Nigeria that produce a member representing any constituency are not done selection but election, so it’s uncalled-for to say that a particular clan has produced more, knowing that the person in question was elected, not selected, and that every clan voted for him because they believed and trusted in his ability to drive home goodwill and dividends of democracy.
If not for selfish interest, malice, and jealousy, why would a group wake up overnight without proper investigation, checks, and balances, and start blackmailing a capable, honorable member who has shown and proved himself worthy, capable, and committed to serving at all times without flimsy excuses?
To cap it all, capitalizing on unverified propaganda leveled against this honorable member was pure politics of interest taken too far.
Let me reiterate that since Honourable Okoro Uchenna Kalu assumed office as the member representing the good people of Arochukwu Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, he has shown nothing but commitment, hospitality, and a willingness to ensure that all the clans in Arochukwu benefit from the good work going on in Abia State today, ably led our amiable governor, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti. So, why do we repay good with bad? Looking at his scorecard and track record, one can deduce that Hon. Okoro has been delivering effective representation, ranging from sponsoring over 39 bills that have all been enacted into law in Abia State, to renovating health centers, markets, road constructions, construction of the ancient Omenuko bridge, solar-powered boreholes, solar street lights, just to mention but a few, all within a very short period, which, in fact, his predecessors have never attempted. These projects are standing tall and are verifiable at their various locations.
Furthermore, the Amaebem Ututu borehole issue – if not for hatred and dishonesty, how can one attribute a natural event to human action? The borehole, which the Ututu people had craved for a long time, eventually came, and due to natural disorder, a group of political opposition wants to use it to put the public in disarray. Well, hatred can have long-term effects on mental health, making it challenging for individuals to recover, rebuild their lives, and gain more thoughtful insights.
Again, the violent conduct alleged the said Arochukwu Equity Forum and other political opposition was false, as many pieces of evidence showed that no such event occurred. The honorable member in question has long debunked the fake news, calling it unfounded, misleading, and an attempt to deceive the public and create commotion within the honorable house. Therefore, it becomes pertinent to say that AEF should publicly apologize to Hon. Uchenna Okoro for inciting the public against him, which has undermined the integrity and self-esteem of the honorable member, or face defamation charges.
