
Rivers: Reps Ad-Hoc Committee Calls Rivers State Sole Administrator over State Issues
The Ad-Hoc Committee on Rivers State Oversight, established the House of Representatives following the National Assembly’s approval of a State of Emergency in Rivers State, convened its inaugural meeting today at the National Assembly Complex.
The meeting was officially inaugurated Rt. Hon. Speaker Abbas Tajudeen, Ph.D., GCON, on April 15, 2025. Members discussed preliminary reports and developments from Rivers State since the appointment of the Sole Administrator.
In line with its constitutional mandate under Section 11(4) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), the Committee has invited Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd.), the Sole Administrator of Rivers State, for an interactive session to better understand the situation on the ground.
Chairman of the Committee, Hon. (Prof.) Julius Ihonvbere, OON, stated:
“This engagement is essential to ascertain the true state of affairs in Rivers State and ensure that the House is properly guided in fulfilling its oversight responsibilities.”
The Sole Administrator is scheduled to appear before the Committee on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at 4:00 PM in Room 414 of the House of Representatives New Building.
A formal invitation has been sent and acknowledged. This announcement emphasizes the Committee’s commitment to transparency throughout its proceedings.
The Committee reaffirms its dedication to its responsibilities with diligence and strict adherence to the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
