OTTI SWEARS-IN CHIEF ECONOMIC ADVISER, UNVEILS ECONOMIC MANAGEMENT TEAM
Abia State Governor Dr. Alex Otti has administered the oath of office to Dr. Friday Kalu Ohuche, appointing him as the state’s Chief Economic Adviser.
In the same event, the Governor unveiled the members of the Abia State Economic Management Team.
Addressing attendees shortly after the State Executive Council meeting at Nvosi, Isialangwa South, Governor Otti described the formation of the economic team as a deliberate measure to address foundational issues before entering full economic management.
“The rationale is straightforward: if you haven’t built anything, there is nothing to manage. Over the past two years, we have focused on building, and now it’s time to manage what we have created to achieve targeted outcomes.”

He added, “Everything hinges on the economy. I recall a former African president once saying, ‘Seek ye first the political kingdom, and everything else will be added unto you.’ In time, that adage has evolved. Today, you must first pursue the economic kingdom, and all other things will fall into place.”
Gov. Otti expressed gratitude to the appointees for accepting the roles and conveyed his confidence that their contributions will significantly advance the administration’s objectives.
“Be assured that every input you provide will be valued and acted upon. In the end, our people will be pleased.”
“Thank you once again for accepting these responsibilities, and welcome to this role. I have no doubt you will substantially contribute to the administration’s second phase during the remaining two years of this tenure, as we strive to deliver greater value to Abia State’s citizens.”

In response, the Chief Economic Adviser, Dr. Friday Kalu Ohuche, thanked the Governor for the opportunity to serve. He pledged commitment on behalf of himself and the other members of the Economic Management Team to sustaining the Governor’s good work.
“Together with my colleagues, we will elevate the progress you’ve started. We will lean on your extensive experience as a high-caliber technocrat and a private-sector leader, and on the two years you’ve already spent steering the state,” Ohuche stated.

The Abia State Economic Management Team, led the Governor, includes the Commissioners for Finance, Budget and Planning; Industry & SME; Trade and Commerce; the Chairman of the Board of Internal Revenue; the Chief Economic Adviser; the head of Internally Generated Revenue; the Director-General and CEO of the Office of Public-Private Partnership and Investment Promotion; the Special Adviser on Budget and Planning; the State Accountant General; the Director-General of the Ministry of Finance, Incorporated; the Principal Secretary and Chief Strategy Officer; and the Governor’s Technical Assistant.
