HON. OKORO INSPECTS ONGOING ROAD CONSTRUCTION, CLASSROOM RENOVATIONS, OTHERS AT OVUKWU WARD
Arochukwu, Abia State – November 5, 2025.
The Majority Leader of the 8th Abia State House of Assembly, Hon. Uchenna Okoro, today conducted a comprehensive tour and inspection of key infrastructure projects set to transform the lives of residents in the Abam community. These initiatives, attracted the Majority Leader through the collaborative efforts of the State Government, underscore the administration’s commitment to education and rural development.
Ahuma Abam Road Project Inspection
Hon. Okoro commenced his tour inspecting the Ahuma Abam Road project, which he successfully attracted through the Governor, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti. The road has been a source of long-standing hardship for the community, severely impacting their ability to transport agricultural produce to market centers.
“The suffering of the people of Ahuma Abam due to this bad road is about to become a thing of the past,” stated Hon. Okoro. “This intervention is crucial for economic empowerment and improving the overall quality of life here.”
Etiti Abam Central School Revitalization and Water Project
Following the road inspection, the Majority Leader visited the project site for the renovation and upgrade of Etiti Abam Central School II, Atan. The project scope includes:
Renovation and reconstruction of a dilapidated four-classroom block and the Headmaster’s Office.
Equipping and fencing the school premises to ensure the safety and security of pupils, teachers, and school property against encroachment. The aim is to create a more engaged, confident, and motivated learning environment.
Furthermore, Hon. Okoro announced the commencement of a Solar Powered Borehole Project to be located near the school. Attracted through the Greater Ohafia Development Authority (GODA), this project will provide clean, potable water for both the school and the host community, promoting healthier living.
Commitment to Education and Community Development
Speaking on the twin projects, Hon. Okoro emphasized his working relationship with Governor Otti, who has placed education as a top priority in his administration, which includes providing free and qualitative education to Abia pupils.
Engr. Obinna Odum, the Director General of GODA, was on the ground to inspect the borehole site and assured the public that the water project would be operational before Christmas. He commended the Majority Leader for his selfless service to the people of Arochukwu Constituency and for addressing the critical needs of both Ahuma and Atan Abam.
“The leadership of Dr. Alex Otti is focused on the betterment of Ndi Abia,” Engr. Odum stated, urging the people to continue their support.
Mr. Onyeani Johnson Chijioke, the Chief Security Officer of Atan Abam, expressed the community’s profound gratitude to the Majority Leader and assured him of adequate security for all workers and equipment throughout the duration of the projects. He also pledged the community’s unwavering support for the Majority Leader and the Governor come 2027.
Concluding his tour, Hon. Okoro reiterated his commitment: “We are relentlessly working hard to ensure that the dividends of democracy reach every part of our constituency, no matter the location. Serving you is my priority.”
