CHILDREN’S DAY: GOV. OTTI CELEBRATES WITH ABIA CHILDREN
It was a soulful moment of emotions during the Children’s day celebration march past hosted at Umuahia township stadium, at the appearance of the school children of the Special education school for the blind, Gov. Otti who was standing on the salute podium was captured struggling to control his emotions as tears rolled down his cheeks, the tears became uncontrollable at a point that it couldn’t go unnoticed.
The Governor was seen shedding tears of compassion while relating with the Condition of the physically challenged children who might’ve been brought into this world in such condition, this gesture reflects Gov. Otti’s behavioural approach as being compassionate towards the people and his commitment in making lives better for Abians including the physically challenged, if only men were God, the Governor’s emotions would have instigated him to restore the sight of the blind but unfortunately he’s human,he can only operate within the reach of his power as human even as a Governor
Sequel to that compassionate feeling, Gov. Otti during his speech later at the event pledged to intervene in the welfare of all school children in the state while giving special attention to the children with special needs, he promised to ameliorate them from all fees they pay in school declaring a zero fee education for them with free provision of every needed materials necessary for their schooling
He has also promised to provide them with school buses which will be made available on the 1st of june,2024, the Governor regretted the unavailability of secondary school in the state for the children with special need and assured that the state will build and equip secondary schools for the physically challenged children to ensure they don’t lack a twinkle in education
The Governor has also announced that there will be special interventions for all school children across the state which include building of schools which is already ongoing and provision of schooling materials,equipped facilities, libraries,laboratories etc. Also, to ensure that every child that’s up to school age is sent to school the Governor has directed that a legislation be set up to make the offense of not sending up to age children to school punishable.

In the New Abia, the welfare of every child both from a rich or poor background or physically challenged is very important to us hence every child must be taken care of, Gov. Otti is strong willed and very determined in fending for the welfare of children in the state, this gave rise to his decisive intervention, according to him, in the midst of these children exists the next generation of science explorers and tech guru’s, the likes of Elon musk and Mark Zuckerberg is what we dream to emerge from our dear state, hence the future of every child must be protected
