ABIA LG POLL: ZENITH LABOUR PARTY CLEARED 15 OUT OF 17 LGs.
The Abia State Independence Electoral Commission(ABSIEC) has declared the result of the just concluded Local Government election held on 2nd November , 2024. Prof. George Chima, the Chairman of the Commission in his declaration said, 15 out of 17 Local Government Areas were won by the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), while the Young Progressive Party (YPP) cleared two LGs.
According to Prof. Chima; “We have carried out the duty we were inaugurated on September 5 to undertake. It was not an easy task, but we went out on our way to create awareness about the election across the state.
“It must be noted that in recent times this commissioner has not conducted an election where over 12 political parties took part in, this on its own is a plus to the commission.
“The election was conducted across the 17 Local Government Areas of the state, it was free, fair, and credible. I want to use this opportunity to say that we have been able to conclude a task that could take up six to twelve months in two months.
“I congratulate the winners and the losers too, because in any election there must be winners and losers, the most important thing is that Abia has been peaceful and I want the peace to continue.
“I appreciate the security agencies for their support, political parties for playing the game according to the rules”.
